Just climb the rocky hill, which was rightly declared a nature reserve in 1989. Railway fans will also find something to enjoy: It is through this rock that the longest tunnel on the line of the legendary Posázava Pacific passes.
The protected area on the right bank of the Vltava River includes several unique biotopes. Deciduous forests intermingle with rocky steppe, overgrown old pastures, and heathland.
Thanks to this, you can admire several protected species of plants and animals. Meadow coneflower grows among the small pasque flowers, and you can also see fast green lizards. It is home to a striking spider species, the ladybird spider, with a signally red rump.
Researchers say this unique site is also valued for its rich history. It is said that there was a stronghold where prehistoric people lived. The medieval castle also benefits from its strategic location.
Today, there are no ruins or original fosses to be found here, but a walk through the local oak forests certainly encourages you to imagine what the view from the rock was like hundreds of years ago.
From Jíloviště, head across Zbraslav to the other side of the Vltava River to Zvole; this 16 km long route can be completed in 20 minutes by car. From there, a two-kilometre hiking trail will lead you directly to the viewpoint. Leave about an hour and a half for this hike.
If you feel like a longer hike, you can start on this nature trail called “Na Zvolské homoli” already in Vraný. Then, you can extend your walking route to 5.5 km and recharge your energy at one of the three rest areas along the way.
